A “box set” of the original 3-book series:

1. Life, published March 2015
2. Liberty, published July 2015
3. The Pursuit, published August 2016

This is a Sweet Futuristic Romantic Suspense story. I’m not a big fan of suspense, but the story is well-written and didn’t set my heart pounding badly enough to stop reading.

Life. Following an economic collapse, people who lose their jobs and cannot pay their rent or mortgage are shuffled into cramped government housing and given menial jobs OR they escape to the suburbs to inhabit abandoned houses. This begins the story of the families who illegally “squat” in their former houses, hiding from the sheriff, trying to stay alive without money. I read a negative review criticizing the slow pace of Book 1, but I especially enjoyed getting to know the people of Logan Pond in Book 1 before their lives went from bad to worse. Book 1 ends with a happily ever after, but the stage is set for Book 2. Very nice.

Liberty. The continuing story of Carrie and Greg and the Citizens of Logan Pond. Pieces of events from Book 1 are sprinkled through the story, but it’s still best to read Life before reading Liberty. It’s still a sweet futuristic romantic suspense, but the suspense is rising to a happy pause . . . and the epilogue turns it into a cliffhanger. Vividly written, I hesitated to jump right into The Pursuit, but (obviously) had to know what happens to these gentle people who haven’t yet found their HEA.

The Pursuit. The third and final book continues the saga of the gentle Citizens of Logan Pond, and it’s still a sweet futuristic romance, but our heroine and hero spend more time apart than together. Each has their own struggle against their individual oppressors as the suspense soars. Eww. Too much suspense. Vividly written, so much so when I put the book down to make a sandwich, I’d feel guilty I had food in my refrigerator and wasn’t doing more to help Carrie and Greg.
